PeopleNet, a provider of integrated onboard computing and mobile communications systems, on Monday, Sept. 19, announced that it is working with TMW Systems on several development projects that will automate workflows and improve reporting for carriers.

“The projects are designed to improve driver and dispatch efficiency, streamline the inspection reporting and repair process, and provide management the ability to create customized reports, including engine monitoring data,” says Randy Boyles, PeopleNet vice president of Tailored Solutions, who made the announcement at TMW’s user conference, TransForum 2011, being held through Sept. 21 at the Gaylord Texan Hotel & Convention Center in Dallas. “These projects are the latest in our 12-year relationship with TMW Systems. Our two companies now serve 250 fleets in common, comprising more than 40,000 PeopleNet in-cab units.”

PeopleNet says the development projects, in various stages of development and testing, include:
• TMW TruckMate/PeopleNet Enhanced Automated Workflow: To ensure accurate billing and improve customer service, embedded decision tree forms combine multiple order numbers in a single manifest queue to the driver for essential delivery information. The flexibility to jump in and out of a form or go to the next applicable place in a form increases driver efficiency;
• TMT Fleet Maintenance/PeopleNet eDVIR and Vehicle Management: Features that make the management and workflow of DVIRs more efficient include the addition of Domicile Shop to the Inspection Ticket Grid, relevant DVIR retrieval for DOT audits, identification of “DOT critical” and noncritical inspection items, elimination of multiple records for the same defect, addition of the repair order number to the mechanic’s acknowledgement, and user-defined deletion of eDVIRs;
• IDSC MatchAdvice/PeopleNet eDriver Logs: To improve the accuracy of estimated-time-of-arrival calculations used in matching recommendations, hours of service from electronic logs is updated automatically and calculated in IDSC MatchAdvice for use in matching drivers with trucks and loads; and
• TMW Data Warehouse /PeopleNet Vehicle Management: The inclusion of Vehicle Management data into the TMW Data Warehouse reporting system expands the range of business and maintenance analytics that customers can build without the need for IT assistance.
