Con-way Multimodal, a division of Con-way Inc.’s operating unit Menlo Worldwide Logistics, announced it has opened a new branch office in Bentonville, Ark., at 609 S.W. 8th St., Suite 355. This is the fourth Con-way Multimodal location in addition to operations in Ann Arbor, Mich.; Portland, Ore.; and Aurora Ill.

Con-way Multimodal arranges third-party carrier services for over-the-road, intermodal, flatbed, heavy-haul and specialized transportation for freight shipments. Currently, one manager and three employees are serving customers out of the 1,600-square-foot facility, with plans to have between 12 and 15 employees on staff by the end of 2012.

“Establishing a presence in Bentonville aligns perfectly with our growth goals as a company, allowing us to build and expand relationships with strategic customers and their suppliers,” says Tommy Barnes, president if Con-way Multimodal. “This location provides access to graduates of the University of Arkansas, which offers one of the most prestigious logistics programs in the country, and brokers with greater experience in both flatbed and refrigerated – two transportation modes we’re looking to build and expand. Overall, there are more brokerage companies in Northwest Arkansas than in many larger regions – it was critical for us to gain visibility there.”

Con-way Multimodal says that in addition to providing customers with access to third-party carrier services, customers also can take advantage of synergies with Menlo Worldwide Logistics and its sister companies, Con-way Freight and Con-way Truckload.
