Lanes of the eastbound Interstate 70 Missouri River Bridge (Blanchette Bridge) near St. Louis will be closed Jan. 8-12 for construction. The work is being done to prepare for rehabilitation work scheduled for the westbound I-70 Blanchette Bridge.

Construction is expected to start this year and last until the end of 2013, the Missouri Department of Construction said. The current work will move utilities off the westbound bridge and place them on the eastbound bridge.

The work will include closing one eastbound lane Jan. 8 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. and closing a second lane and Fifth Street ramps to eastbound I-70 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. On Jan. 9-12, one eastbound lane will close from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., and a second lane and the Fifth Street ramps will close from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Similar nightly lane closures on the bridge could occur weekly, Sunday through Thursday nights, until late March. The Fifth Street ramp closures will be limited.
