Ryder System Inc. announced that it was named a 2011 General Motors Supplier of the Year for providing world-class supply chain and logistics services to GM. This is Ryder’s seventh time winning the award, which was given recently during a ceremony at the Detroit Institute of the Arts.

The award recognizes the significant contributions of GM’s suppliers in 2011 as part of the company’s global product and performance achievement. The winners represent GM’s view of the best the automotive industry has to offer in innovative technology, superior quality, outstanding launch support, crisis management and competitive total enterprise cost solutions.

“Ryder is once again honored to be recognized as a Supplier of the Year by GM and proud to contribute to their global success and quality reputation,” says John Williford, president of Global Supply Chain Solutions for Ryder. “We look forward to continuing our 27-year relationship and to reaching new levels of service excellence. I would also like to congratulate the members of our Ryder team who are committed to driving superior quality, support and value for GM.”
