Three members of the engineering and business leadership teams at Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC are among the distinguished lineup of technical presenters at EuroBrake, a major annual international forum for brake experts working in the fields of passenger cars, commercial vehicles, rail, aerospace, industry, and academia.
EuroBrake 2012 (www.eurobrake.net), the inaugural EuroBrake conference, is being held April 16-18 at the International Congress Centre in Dresden, Germany. Leading brake experts from industry and academia throughout Europe and worldwide are gathering to present their latest work, debate the future direction of the industry, and collaborate on solutions to common challenges. The event is organized by FISITA (www.fisita.com), the world body for automotive engineering, in partnership with VDI (www.vdi.eu), the leading German engineering society.

Among the more than 100 presentations at EuroBrake 2012 are three by members of Bendix, the North American leader in the development of commercial vehicle active safety, energy management, and braking system solutions:
• Richard Beyer, Bendix vice president of engineering, research and development, will present “Market and Regulation Influences Defining Brake Control Architecture.” His presentation explores general brake control architecture differences in commercial vehicles operating in the regions governed by ECE R-13 and FMVSS 121 regulations, as well as those in regions with mixed regulations. Beyer also serves as co-chair of the Advanced Rotor Technologies (RM2) panel.
• Charles Eberling, Bendix principal engineer, vehicle systems integration and modules, will present “Global Design Approach to Basic Pneumatic Braking Systems for Commercial Vehicles.” His discussion focuses on adaptable, universal pneumatic system design for commercial vehicles that complies with European and North American braking regulations.
• Thomas Lyon, senior staff engineer, Foundation Drum Brakes, at Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake LLC (BSFB), will present “Advancing Commercial Drum Brake Technologies to Cost Effectively Meet Changing Market Needs.” He developed the presentation with BSFB colleagues Thomas Runels, engineering manager, drum brakes; and Troy Flodin, test engineering manager for BSFB. The presentation examines BSFB’s exercise to design, develop, and test changes to existing S-Cam brake technologies to meet the U.S. government’s reduced stopping distance mandate. BSFB is a joint venture between Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems and Dana Commercial Vehicle Products, LLC.
