Meritor Inc. announced that Bynum Transport of Auburndale, Fla., is specifying Meritor’s MTA 23 air-ride suspension, Q Plus drum brakes, ABS with Meritor WABCO Roll Stability Support and slack adjusters on its latest Walker Stainless tanker order. Bynum, a provider of specialized tank truck transportation of food grade liquid bulk commodities, has been specifying Meritor truck components since the 1980s, but these new tankers will be their first with Meritor trailer components included.

“We’ve had a longstanding relationship with Meritor,” says Gary Brinkley, safety director for Bynum Transport. “Their quality products and outstanding customer service has certainly benefited our fleet. Once we tested the MTA trailer suspension and received positive feedback from our drivers about how well they pulled and handled, we were sold on adding them to our trailers. An added incentive was the ease of maintaining the suspensions once they are in service.”

Meritor MTA air-ride suspensions are available for a broad range of vocational trailers, including platform, tanker, bottom dump, grain, logging, transfer, side dump and end dump trailers. The 23K suspension features patented pivot bushings, large bore high-damping shock absorbers, a patent-pending axle wrap design and Meritor axles and brakes.

MTA vocational air-ride suspensions are available with a wide range of axle, wheel end and brake options. Premium “MA” series brake linings also are available to help extend brake service maintenance intervals. Meritor supplies axle, suspension, brake, automatic tire inflation and wheel-end components to original equipment trailer manufacturers and to the replacement market via distribution outlets located throughout North America.
