Old Dominion Freight Line has promoted Ross Parr, a 13-year legal veteran, to serve as its vice president – legal affairs, general counsel and secretary. Parr, who joined Old Dominion in August 2011, succeeds former general counsel Joel McCarty and will oversee all legal matters for Old Dominion.

“As our company continues to expand its operations globally, we will rely on Ross’ specialized expertise and judgment to make sound financial and management decisions,” says David Congdon, president and chief executive officer of the Thomasville, N.C.-based less-than-truckload company. “As a member of our senior management team, we are confident he will play an integral role in the next phase of our company’s growth.”

Prior to joining Old Dominion, Parr was a member at Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice in Charlotte, N.C. Parr’s practice at Womble Carlyle was focused primarily on public securities law and corporate governance matters.
