The number of Class 8 orders has been updated by ACT Research and appears weaker than originally reported, due to “perceived threat of bad economic news [that impacted] potential truck buyers,” says a release by the research company.
Numbers, though, are still higher better than the same time in 2011, says Steve Tam, a VP with ACT. Somewhere between 280,000 and 284,000 trucks will be produced in North American this year, Tam says, accounting for an 11 percent year-over-year increase.
