Cadec Global, which provides enterprise-class fleet management systems, announced that long-time customer Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation, the world’s second-largest chicken producer and a majority-owned subsidiary of JBS USA, has upgraded to Cadec’s new PowerVue Enterprise.

Formerly a user of Cadec’s Mobius product, Pilgrim’s elected to upgrade to PowerVue primarily to take advantage of its electronic Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (eDVIR) solution, workflow and enhanced enterprise-wide integration and reporting capabilities.

Pilgrim’s did evaluate other market offerings before making the decision, according to James Bliss, IT Analyst for Pilgrim’s. “We looked at the usual suspects in fleet management,” said Bliss, “and came away even more impressed with PowerVue. In my opinion, no one can match Cadec’s architecture prowess and ease of use, for both drivers and operations staff.”

Bliss added that although it was not the primary driver in Pilgrim’s decision, the fact that the team could utilize the Cadec hardware currently installed in its vehicles allowed it to leverage previous investments, lowering cost of ownership.

Pilgrim’s has also subscribed to Cadec’s eDVIR, which enables drivers to complete paperless inspection reports that are compliant with FMCSA regulations; and SpeedTracker, which provides speed-by-road trip data to track driver behavior against established speed limits. Pilgrim’s will begin its deployment of all three in early 2013, including integration with SAP and Comdata’s Inter-Tax for fuel tax filing.

Bliss reports that Mobius, the Cadec system implemented in 2007, has helped Pilgrim’s save approximately $4M annually due to paper reductions, labor savings and improved fuel economy. “We believe our savings with PowerVue will be even greater, because its architecture, reporting and integration capabilities will make it so much easier to manage drivers and ensure safety and compliance,” Bliss explained.

“The flexibility and power of the new software are really amazing – especially the drill-down reporting and built-in analytics and scorecarding, which let us explore exceptions with just a few clicks, and the ability to quickly integrate with other enterprise applications using web services. PowerVue offers significant advantages over every other fleet management solution we looked at.”
