Ed Shea, former CCJ executive editor, passes away

Edward Shea, executive editor of Commercial Carrier Journal from the 1950s through the 1990s, passed away on April 28 at the age of 91. Shea was also the publisher of Owner Operator magazine. After his retirement in 1998 he served as transportation consultant for the two magazines. He also served as the editor of The Fleet Specialist magazine.

Shea was credited as one of the founding members of the Technology & Maintenance Council of the American Trucking Associations and was a Silver Spark Plug recipient. He also served as the organization’s historian for a number of years.

Before working at CCJ, Shea worked at the Chilton Book Co. in Philadelphia and was an automotive service manager. In World War II, Shea served in the Army Engineers.

Shea is survived by three children, 12 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
