The South Korean-based Hyundai Motor Co. announced this week it is investing $1.8 billion in the next five years into commercial vehicle development, which could include bringing a heavy-duty truck to the U.S. market.
CCJ sister site Successful Dealer’s Jason Cannon has a full write-up on Hyundai’s announcement (click here to read it), in which he notes the company says it wants to introduce “premium models in North America and Europe.”
What “premium” means is up for interpretation, Cannon writes, but Hyundai could find a niche in the U.S. truck market with a lower-tech, less expensive truck than what U.S. manufacturers offer now.
