Trojan Battery says its new Reliant AGM battery is the trucking industry’s first true deep cycle battery, specifically designed to supply consistent power during long off-duty stretches.
Dave Godber, Trojan’s executive Vice President of sales marketing says most AGM truck batteries are designed for dual-purpose or standby applications. The new Reliant battery, he says, was developed over several years by Trojan engineers with a proprietary paste formula to address specific deep cycle requirements, a new separator composition with a thicker design for highly effective contact between glass mat and plates to promote extended battery life. Other features include a new reinforced case design and one flame arrestor for each cell to ensure maximum safety.
In other Trojan news, the company cited a recent report from Alabama-based flatbed fleet Boyd Brothers citing a dramatic decrease in jump starts during this winter driving season. The fleet has only required 4 jump starts this season versus 21 jump starts per week during the same time period last year.
Boyd Brothers recently began spec’ing Trojan’s Overdrive AGM 31 truck battery and credits this change with the dramatic drop in dead batteries and jump starts.
