Roadrunner Transportation Systems (No. 34 on the CCJ Top 250) announced Thursday the formation of its new reefer division, Roadrunner Temperature Controlled (RRTC).

The new division is the combination of two of Roadrunner’s companies – M. Bruenger and R&M Transportation – into one company. RRTC will start with approximately 400 drivers from the two companies, 300 of which are owner-operators, Roadrunner says.

“This advancement has been in the works for quite some time,” says Curt Stoelting, president and COO of Roadrunner Transportation Systems. “We are creating a temperature controlled network that will control more than 400 tractors and manage more than 650 temperature controlled trailers.”

RRTC will haul frozen foods, meat, seafood, produce, beverages, ice cream, pharmaceuticals and more, the company says.
