Flatbed conglomerate Daseke acquires Midwest fleet Steelman Companies

Flatbed and stepdeck conglomerate Daseke, Inc. announced Wednesday it has acquired The Steelman Companies.

The Steelman Companies generated an estimated $46 million in revenue and an estimated $7 million in Adjusted EBITDA in 2016, Daseke says. The heavy haul and flatbed fleet operates in the Midwest.

Daseke is comprised of more than a dozen companies with over 3,500 trucks and 7,300 open deck specialized trailers. Daseke is the parent company of Smokey Point, E.W. Wylie, J. Grady Randolph, Central Oregon Truck Company, Lone Star Transportation, Bulldog Hiway Express, Hornady Transportation, The Boyd Companies – including Boyd Bros. Transportation, WTI Transport. Earlier this year, it acquired the Schilli Companies and Big Freight Systems.

Daseke was CCJ‘s Innovator of the Month in June.
