A 3.5-cent decrease in the country’s national average diesel fuel price during the first week of 2019 has prices at their lowest point since the end of March.
The U.S.’ average for a gallon of on-highway diesel is now $3.013, according to the Department of Energy’s weekly report. Fuel prices have fallen for 12 consecutive weeks for a total decrease of 38.1 cents so far.
Prices fell in all regions across the country with the most significant decrease being seen in the West Coast less California region, which saw a 6.6-cent decrease.
The most expensive fuel can be found in California at $3.805 per gallon, followed by the Central Atlantic region at $3.242 per gallon.
The cheapest diesel can be found in the Gulf Coast region at $2.821 per gallon, followed by the Midwest at $2.869 per gallon.
Prices in other regions, according to DOE, are:
- New England – $3.216
- Lower Atlantic – $2.921
- Rocky Mountain – $3.026
- West Coast less California – $3.18
ProMiles’ numbers during the week saw fuel prices fall by 3.9 cents, bringing its national average to $2.928 per gallon.
According to ProMiles’ Fuel Surcharge Index, the most expensive diesel can be found in California at $3.674 per gallon, and the cheapest can be found in the Gulf Coast region at $2.813 per gallon.
