Schneider announces leadership transition

Schneider National (CCJ Top 250, No. 6) President and CEO Mark Rourke will transition to the role of executive chairman, the company announced Wednesday, and Jim Filter will take over as the company's next president and chief executive officer. The moves are effective July 1.

Filter is a 27-year Schneider veteran who currently serves as executive vice president and group president of transportation and logistics. Filter has been a key architect of the company’s recent operational and digital advancements, the company noted.

"I am honored to take the helm at Schneider and continue to build on the momentum Mark and our team have created," Filter said. "Schneider is well-positioned for significant growth, and I’m eager to lead our talented team in advancing our technology solutions."

Before his executive climb, Filter served in the United States Marine Corps and held various management roles within Schneider’s Mexico operations and intermodal divisions.

Rourke has led Schneider as its CEO since 2019, a period marked by significant expansion in the company's intermodal network and its transformation into a top-tier dedicated carrier.

As executive chairman, Rourke will remain active in shaping Schneider’s strategic direction and mentoring the leadership team. "Jim is absolutely the right person to lead Schneider moving forward," Rourke noted. "He is a proven leader who understands our business and our customers."

Pennsylvania adds more than 300 truck parking spaces

Truck drivers traveling through Pennsylvania have a few hundred more spaces to park with the state’s announcement of 339 new parking spaces.

The new spaces are part of Pennsylvania’s commitment to adding at least 1,200 truck parking spaces by the end of 2026, which state officials announced in October.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has  opened the new spots at 24 locations across the state, including Interstate on-ramps, other Commonwealth-owned sites, and weigh stations where Pennsylvania State Police conduct motor carrier safety enforcement.

“As a commercial driver’s license holder, I know how critical safe parking options are for the people who keep goods moving to and through Pennsylvania,” said PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll. “The Shapiro Administration is wasting no time in making good on this commitment to give them more options to meet their federal rest requirements. This is a commonsense approach to enhance safety, and the department is looking at ways to add even more spaces.”

Before the end of 2025, PennDOT added truck parking spots at:

  • Interstate 99 on-ramps in Bellwood, Blair County
  • I-79 northbound and southbound weigh stations in Butler County
  • Route 100 northbound weigh station in Chester County
  • Four I-79 on-ramps in Erie County
  • I-81 northbound and southbound weigh stations in Franklin County
  • Location off I-70 in Fulton County
  • I-380 northbound and southbound weigh stations in Lackawanna County
  • Location off Route 315 in Luzerne County
  • Route 9404/William Penn Highway Park and Ride in Northampton County
  • Location off Route 6 in Pike County
  • I-81 northbound and southbound weigh stations in Schuylkill County
  • Two locations off U.S. 11 in Snyder County
  • I-79 southbound weigh station in Washington County
  • I-83 northbound and southbound weigh stations in York County

PennDOT’s designated truck parking spots are being established on Interstate on-ramps with no sight distance or safety concerns, weigh stations used for PSP motor carrier safety enforcement, and various other locations within highway right of way. PennDOT and PSP staff collaborated closely to identify sites that can be designated quickly and cost-effectively. Spots are marked with truck-parking signage installed by PennDOT.

In October, PennDOT unveiled a new “Public Truck Parking” option on www.511PA.com and the 511PA smartphone application. The map displays existing truck parking options and newly designated locations are being added as the parking becomes available.

Warp expands Same-Day LTL service

Tech-powered freight network Warp this week announced expanded availability of its Same-Day LTL service, designed for transportation teams responsible for freight shipments when traditional LTL networks are already closed.

The service allows teams to dispatch a cargo van or box truck within an hour of booking for same-day pickup and delivery of palletized freight locally, even after late cutoffs.

Warp’s Same-Day LTL is built for the 4-6 p.m. failure window, addressing operational challenges that traditional LTL networks cannot handle, including missed outbound linehaul, late inbound vendor freight, same-day store replenishment, and DC flow interruptions, the company said. Instead of routing freight through terminals, Warp moves freight directly using right-sized vehicles for speed, control, and reliability.

"This service is designed for moments when failure has already occurred and tomorrow is too late," said Daniel Sokolovsky, Co-Founder and CEO. "Transportation teams need a way to act fast, contain damage, and protect downstream operations. Warp Same-Day LTL delivers exactly that."
