Prime Inc. is investing more than $160 million to establish a new regional hub in Spalding County, Georgia.

Based in Springfield, Mo., Prime (CCJ Top 250, No. 15) currently operates a fleet of more than 7,000 units. Establishing a new Southeastern regional hub is expected to create more than 120 full-time jobs and the hiring of more than 50 drivers.

The new Southeastern campus will be located near Griffin, approximately 40 miles south of downtown Atlanta. The facility will serve as a central node for the company’s regional operations, featuring driver training centers, equipment maintenance facilities, and amenities for staff.

Prime CEO and founder Robert Low said the location was chosen for its proximity to the company's top customers and its access to major transportation corridors.

"Prime Inc.’s new campus will further add to Georgia’s $107 billion transportation and logistics industry that creates and supports jobs in every corner of our state," added Governor Brian Kemp.

Logistics is a cornerstone of Georgia's economy, accounting for roughly one out of every nine jobs in the state, according to the Georgia Department of Economic Development.

In addition to freight operations, the campus will incorporate sustainability initiatives. Prime plans to recycle used truck tires at the site to produce aggregate rubber material for mulch and pellets. According to the company, these efforts currently divert more than 1 million tires from landfills annually.

Local officials praised the investment as a significant win for the region's economy.

"The additional facilities the company is building into the campus enhance the employee and driver experience," said Nat Doughie, chairman of the Griffin-Spalding Development Authority. "We look forward to welcoming Prime to our growing and thriving community."

The company said it will begin hiring immediately for mechanics, driving operators, and facility maintenance staff.
