Daimler Truck Financial Services celebrated the grand opening of its new North American headquarters Tuesday, deepening the company's financial and operational footprint in the Carolinas.

The $7.8 million investment in Charlotte's Ballantyne area brings together approximately 350 employees from multiple regional offices into a modern, collaborative workspace. The facility serves as the central hub for operations across the U.S., Canada and Mexico, providing financing, leasing and insurance solutions for commercial vehicle brands including Freightliner, Western Star and Thomas Built Buses.

The opening builds on a massive regional presence shared with parent company Daimler Truck North America. Together, DTFS and DTNA employ roughly 9,000 workers across North Carolina and South Carolina, anchoring a robust manufacturing, sales and distribution network that spans:

  • Cleveland Truck Manufacturing Plant in Cleveland, North Carolina
  • Mount Holly Truck Manufacturing Plant in Mount Holly, North Carolina
  • Thomas Built Buses offices and manufacturing in High Point, North Carolina
  • Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation in Gaffney, South Carolina
  • Gastonia Components & Logistics Facility in Gastonia, North Carolina
  • DTNA Corporate Office in Fort Mill, South Carolina

State leaders hailed the expansion as a testament to the region's drawing power for corporate talent.

"Charlotte is the country’s second-largest financial center, and people want to be part of what we’re building," said N.C. Gov. Josh Stein, who attended Tuesday's ribbon-cutting alongside state and local officials. "These investments from Daimler Truck Financial Services will bring new good-paying jobs for North Carolina’s top-tier financial services workforce."

The expansion was supported by a state Job Development Investment Grant. Kevin Bangston, president and CEO of DTFS USA, said the new headquarters positions the company to capture future growth in the transportation sector while investing in local recruitment.

"Our headquarters reflects our commitment to helping customers and dealers succeed, our confidence in the future of the transportation industry, and our investment in creating an environment where employees can collaborate, innovate and thrive," Bangston said.

Stephan Unger, chairman of Daimler Truck Financial Services globally, emphasized the strategic weight of the North American market.

"This headquarters supports our ability to serve customers and dealers more effectively while strengthening collaboration across our North American organization," Unger said. "It reflects our confidence in the region's future and our continued investment in helping customers keep the world moving."
