Koch Companies (CCJ Top 250, No. 86) on Monday said it has acquired Murfreesboro-based Store Opening Solutions (SOS) from Marmon Holdings, Inc. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The deal, which coincides with Koch’s 50th anniversary in 2026, represents a massive expansion for the Minneapolis-based firm, effectively doubling its nationwide warehousing and fulfillment footprint.

Strategic expansion in retail logistics

The acquisition is set to supercharge the growth of the Koch Logistics division. Already a powerhouse in the Midwest with over three million square feet of facility space, the addition of SOS adds significant capacity and specialized expertise in retail inventory consolidation.

Jeff Koch, Chief Operating Officer of Koch Companies, described the move as a cornerstone of the firm's long-term evolution.

"Bringing SOS into the Koch Companies family represents a meaningful step in our long-term strategy to strengthen and expand our logistics, fulfillment, and trucking capabilities,” he said. “We’re positioning the business and our customers for long-term success.”

25-year partnership

The acquisition may be new but the relationship between the two entities is not. Koch Logistics has worked alongside SOS for a quarter-century, even maintaining an onsite operational team in Murfreesboro since 1999.

The two companies have a history of collaborating on large-scale projects for major national retailers, including store expansions and brand conversions.

“Bringing both entities under the same umbrella... will allow us to create synergies and value-added solutions for our clients,” added Darren Nelson, Vice President and General Manager of Koch Logistics and Warehousing.

Growth by the Numbers

  • Warehouse capacity: The acquisition doubles Koch’s total nationwide square footage.
  • Regional reach: SOS brings five strategic locations across Tennessee, Mississippi, and New Hampshire.
  • Service verticals: Integration of SOS’s expertise in retail consolidation with Koch’s five divisions (Trucking, Logistics, NationaLease, United Trailer Leasing, and Maritime).
