Saia adds terminals in Washington and Indiana

Saia (CCJ Top 250, No. 18) has opened two new terminals in Marysville, Washington, and Edinburgh, Indiana.

The Marysville facility opened May 4 to support freight movement and regional growth throughout the Pacific Northwest. The Edinburgh location began operations last week, aiming to boost service and capacity within a high-traffic Midwest logistics corridor south of Indianapolis.

Company officials said the new facilities are designed to improve routing efficiency, increase network flexibility, and reduce transit variability for shippers.

"These openings reflect our focus on getting closer to the customer and building density in the right places to better support shipper needs," said Patrick Sugar, Saia executive vice president of operations.

Sugar added that the infrastructure investments align with evolving customer demand and the company's commitment to long-term growth.

Averitt names new regional sales VP for Tennessee and Virginia

Cookeville-based Averitt (no. 25) has named Scott Potter vice president of sales for the Tennessee and Virginia region, effective ahead of the June 1 retirement of longtime executive Randy Martin.

Martin will cap a 41-year career with the transportation and logistics provider, during which he directed regional sales initiatives and anchored territory expansion.

Potter brings nearly three decades of company experience to his new role. He joined Averitt in 1998 as a part-time dock associate in Nashville, eventually moving up through frontline leadership positions and serving as an operations manager. He transitioned into corporate sales in 2017 as a local transportation specialist, and most recently worked as director of corporate business development across multiple service sectors.

Kent Williams, Averitt’s executive vice president of sales and marketing, praised Potter’s dual background in logistics management and corporate accounts.

"Scott’s background in both operations and sales gives him a strong understanding of how we support customers across our network," Williams said. "He has consistently demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and a commitment to delivering results, and we’re confident he is well prepared for this role."
