Paper Transport (CCJ Top 250, No. 105) has launched a new same-day dry van full truckload service that aims to give Northeast Wisconsin businesses the responsiveness of a dedicated transportation partner without requiring the high freight volumes of a traditional dedicated fleet.

The service, PTI Priority, originates in the Green Bay and Appleton markets, offering same-day delivery for freight moving within a 60-mile radius. There is no formal daily cutoff for submitting a PTI Priority request, the carrier told CCJ. For example, a request received after 5 p.m. could still be delivered that same day or evening, depending on shipment readiness, available capacity, payment timing, and the distance between the origin and destination.

"Manufacturers today need more than just a truck — they need responsiveness, communication, and a transportation partner that can adapt quickly when production schedules change," Jared Stedl, PTI’s chief commercial officer, said in a statement. "PTI Priority allows us to expand that same level of service to additional manufacturers throughout Northeast Wisconsin — whether large or small."

PTI told CCJ it was already providing similar ad hoc transportation support for roughly a dozen customers throughout Northeast Wisconsin. As those requests continued to grow, it saw an opportunity to formalize the offering and make it available to more customers, although the service does not currently support refrigerated, flatbed, or hazmat shipments.

For all PTI Priority requests, customers can submit shipment details via the carrier's website, email, or phone. The team reviews each request to ensure it aligns with program guidelines, then matches available capacity using its network of drivers and equipment in the Green Bay and Appleton markets. Once the request is accepted and payment is received, the load is dispatched.

Northeast Wisconsin is one of the most manufacturing-dense regions in the country. Local manufacturers have faced growing uncertainty in recent years due to supply chain disruptions, fluctuating demand, labor shortages, and tighter production windows.

Information to advance your business from industry suppliers

While initially founded to serve the paper industry, the De Pere-based Paper Transport (PTI) now partners with companies across multiple sectors, including food and beverage, industrial manufacturing, packaging, consumer products, and retail distribution.

Company officials said the service is designed for production-support freight, plant-to-plant transfers, urgent customer shipments, and overflow freight. According to Stedl, the service helps local companies stay lean and reduce downtime without relying on the unpredictable spot market.

The company noted that the regional focus also benefits its employees by keeping operations closer to home.

"PTI Priority creates a strong opportunity for drivers who want consistent work while staying connected to home and family," said Chris Buckingham, vice president of operations. "Drivers benefit from predictable regional routes, strong communication, and the support of a company that prioritizes safety."

While the program is launching in the Green Bay and Appleton first, PTI told CCJ it already sees opportunities to expand the model into other markets where PTI has a strong operational presence in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, and Southeast.
