Semi-Truck ParkedComcar Industries is installing Spireon’s FleetLocate trailer management system in its entire fleet of dry/refrigerated vans, bulk, flatbed and chemical trailers.

According to the announcement from Spireon, some of the key features that Comcar evaluated were the installation, user interface and integration of FleetLocate with its transportation management software.

“We required a technology solution which would meet the needs of each of our four subsidiaries and provide us centralized visibility to our entire operation,” said Michael Ryan, CEO of Comcar Industries.

Comcar’s business units are CTL Transportation, CCC Transportation, MCT Transportation and CT Transportation. With FleetLocate’s trailer management capabilities, Comcar is able to give its customers the exact location of their loads in real time. FleetLocate also allows Comcar to enhance cargo security and maintain cargo integrity from origin to destination.

“FleetLocate allows us to see all assets company-wide or break down views by service offering.  We expect the visibility within all of our business units, combined with the actionable insights provided in FleetLocate reports, to position us to significantly improve our operational efficiency and service to our customers,” added Ryan.

With refrigerated operations, Comcar must comply with the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) regulations aimed at preventing food contamination during transport. With FleetLocate, the company has trailer temperature readings every five minutes during transport, and immediate alerts if a temperature varies from a predetermined range.
