Autonomous trucking software startup PlusAI released year-end performance metrics Thursday that suggest the company is getting significant traction in its race toward a 2027 commercial launch.
The company reported that its SuperDrive virtual driver has seen steady improvements in safety validation and operational efficiency through the second half of 2025. Most notably, PlusAI’s Safety Case Readiness (SCR)—a measure of the system's maturity and safety documentation—has climbed to 90.1%, up from 86.1% earlier this year.

Driving toward full autonomy
PlusAI’s SuperDrive platform utilizes an AI-native Reasoning–Reflex stack. It has been trained on over six million real-world miles and uses a combination of rule-based guardrails and synthetic data to handle complex edge-case driving scenarios.
The latest data highlights a trend toward hands-off operation. PlusAI’s Remote Assistance Free Trips (RAFT), which tracks the percentage of trips completed without any human intervention or remote assistance, rose to 79%.
"Safety and system maturity are foundational requirements for deploying factory-built autonomous trucks at scale," said David Liu, CEO and Co-Founder of PlusAI. "We continue to make consistent, measurable progress as we get closer to our planned 2027 launch."
Strategic partnerships and public listing
Unlike aftermarket solutions, PlusAI’s SuperDrive system is designed to be integrated at the factory level, which the company claims is essential for long-term reliability and fleet adoption.
The updates come as PlusAI prepares for a major corporate transition. The company is currently in the process of going public through a business combination with Churchill Capital Corp IX (Nasdaq: CCIX).
On the hardware side, PlusAI has secured deep integrations with global manufacturing giants, including International Motors, IVECO, and Hyundai. Hyundai and PlusAI’s autonomous XCIENT Fuel Cell Class 8 heavy-duty truck was named one of TIME Magazine's Best Inventions of 2025.
Eyes on the Texas Triangle
In partnership with PlusAI, International in September announced a pilot of its autonomous on-highway tractor along the Interstate 35 corridor between Laredo and Dallas with select fleet operators.
While testing continues globally—including public road trials in Sweden—PlusAI is focusing its commercial eyes on the United States. The company is currently running a pilot program with one of the top ten largest carriers in the U.S. within the Texas Triangle—a U.S. megaregion comprised of Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Austin and San Antonio, linked by major highways like I-35, I-45, and I-10.
The company expects this region to serve as the launchpad for its first factory-built autonomous fleet, with plans to expand into broader U.S. and European freight corridors shortly thereafter.
