Diesel fuel prices across the U.S. fell by an average of 1.1 cents during the most recent week, breaking a five-week climb in which fuel prices jumped nearly 10 cents, according to Department of Energy’s weekly report.
During the week ending May 13, prices fell in all regions except the West Coast regions – California saw a 3.9-cent increase, while the West Coast less California saw a 1-cent increase.
California’s prices now stand at $4.136 per gallon, followed by the Central Atlantic region at $3.365 per gallon.
The cheapest fuel can be found in the Gulf Coast region at $2.905 per gallon, followed by the Lower Atlantic region at $3.035 per gallon.
Prices in other regions, according to DOE, are:
- New England – $3.238
- Midwest – $3.046
- Rocky Mountain – $3.181
- West Coast less California – $3.355
ProMiles’ numbers during the same week saw fuel prices fall by eight-tenths of a cent to $3.071 per gallon.
According to ProMiles’ Fuel Surcharge Index, the most expensive diesel can be found in California at $4.061 per gallon, and the cheapest can be found in the Gulf Coast region at $2.917 per gallon.
