What do plumbers and police have in common? Well, for starters, they both take on more than their fair share of…well, uh…undesirable content, shall we say.
While no one can say for sure what prompted the driver of a pluming truck late last week in Los Angeles to help police pursue a pickup truck, it certainly made for a memorable scene.
In the video below posted by nbclosangeles.com, an unoccupied Right Price Rooter service truck is first seen in a northeast neighborhood blocking the path of a grey pickup whose driver had been leading police on a long chase, including a run on the 210 freeway.
Just when it looks like the plumbing truck has brought the chase to a heroic end, the driver of the grey pickup clips the truck to squeeze past it and another car before taking off again down the road.
What happens next is befitting of an L.A. comic-thriller (think Mel Gibson going undercover as an overzealous plumber)–the driver of the plumbing truck comes running from a nearby house, gets into his truck and begins chasing the fleeing pickup.
The chase ensued for several blocks before the grey truck stopped at a house on Weldon Avenue. Following a stand-off, the suspect and others in the house surrendered to police. The suspect had apparently been having some kind of medical episode following a recent hospital stay. Police arrested him and charged him with felony evading.
No word yet on whether the plumber is trading in his plunger for a badge.
