A tow truck driver was shot today while trying to repossess a car near Atlanta.
The driver and an assistant had started loading the car early this morning in Pine Lake when shots rang out.
The assistant told Dekalb County police that he and the driver jumped in the tow truck and headed down the street to a nearby gas station where the driver discovered that he had been shot in the back of the neck. His injury is not life-threatening, according to ajc.com.
Police report that the car’s owner had fired several shots one of which struck the tow truck driver. The truck’s back window was also shot along with the car. The man reportedly shot himself in the foot before being detained by police.
The driver’s assistant told police that it was his first day on the job.
Pine Lake is about 10 miles northeast of Atlanta.
