Truck driver John Doe was hauling a load through Maypoe, Mississippi, on a clear morning. Turning onto North Maple Avenue at the posted speed limit, his trip seemed routine, until a sudden snapping sound signaled trouble.
Doe’s trailer had snagged and disconnected an overhead utility wire. He reported the incident, only to be cited with a preventable accident by his fleet. Doe disputed the decision, and the case was escalated to the National Safety Council’s Accident Review Committee.
An investigation revealed Doe had safely passed under 19 wires before the snag and another 56 afterward. With only one hanging lower than the rest, was this truly a preventable accident? Watch the video to find out.
