Truck-Lite has released its Trailer Back Up Safety System for 2027 builds, offering an integrated reverse-lighting and audible alarm system designed to improve trailer backup safety and efficiency.

The system, initially announced at the Technology & Maintenance Council's (TMC) Annual Meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition in March, underwent summer testing across more than 40 fleet installations. Participating fleets reported positive results, noting high reliability, ease of use, and enhanced nighttime visibility in congested loading areas.

"Drivers need to clearly see obstacles, pedestrians, equipment, and loading dock areas when backing a trailer in low-light conditions," said Christopher Pellico, vice president of strategic business development for commercial vehicles at Clarience Technologies.

Designed for streamlined OEM installation and fleet adoption, the system aims to reduce property damage, lower injury risks, and provide audible and visible notifications to nearby pedestrians and vehicles.

Fleets can add the system by contacting an OEM, parts provider, or Truck-Lite sales representative.
