If trucks don’t roll, then cashflow comes to a stop.

And clearly some trucks have it tougher than others when it comes to taking on challenging off-road terrain where the right tires can make all the difference.

To that end, Cooper Tire introduced its new Severe Series Mixed Service Drive (MSD) tire this week at SEMA in Las Vegas and with its one-inch deep tread it was hard to miss.

“This tire is a beast,” Gary Schroeder, executive director of Cooper’s Global Truck and Bus Tire Business explains in the video below. “When you get into a situation that needs serious traction, this is the tire for you.”

Triangular tie-bars in the outside shoulder help to promote traction throughout the life of the Cooper SEVERE Series MSD, while also mitigating heel-toe wear. Designed to reduce total cost of ownership, the highly engineered, durable casing includes stone ejectors to ensure multiple retreads beyond the original tread life. Key features and benefits of the new Cooper Severe Series MSD include:

  • Chip Guard Technology: Proprietary compounds and tread designs engineered to meet the harsh performance requirements in mixed service applications.
  • 32/32nds Deep Tread Depth: With a full inch of tread depth, the MSD provides extended tread life in both on- and off-road applications.
  • Triangular Tie-Bars: Triangular tie-bars in the outside shoulder minimize heel-toe wear, while also providing traction throughout the life of the tire.
  • Stone Ejectors: Stone ejectors within the lateral grooves of the tread help to preserve the casing to ensure multiple retreads.

The Cooper Severe Series MSD is offered in two sizes, 11R22.5 (LRH) and 11R24.5 (LRH), which are available for shipment beginning Nov. 1. The tire can be seen in Cooper’s booth #43019 at SEMA in Las Vegas today through Nov. 2.
