Lytx introduces new tracking service for powered equipment
Video telematics provider Lytx has launched a new tracking service to provide fleets visibility into their powered equipment.
The Lytx Asset Tracking Service provides data that includes asset serial number, current estimated location, last connected time and the last movement date in addition to real-time alerts that offer insights on how long the equipment has been dormant, current battery level and when an asset enters or exits a defined area. Customers access this data via installing hardware into a powered asset and subscribing each unit to Lytx’s customizable tracking software.
Paired with Lytx’s Fleet Tracking Service, it offers full-view visibility, allowing fleet managers and business owners to track history and travel patterns to determine vehicle and equipment usage, as well as whether they need to buy more equipment or offload some.
Fleet Tracking Service is not required to purchase Asset Tracking Service. Lytx plans to release several new maintenance enhancements to its Fleet Tracking Service later this year which include:
- Diagnostic Trouble Codes support for heavy-duty vehicles. DTC Insights can identify potential vehicle malfunctions and help mangers resolve issues before they become more dangerous and costly.
- Preventative maintenance by calendar, which allows fleet managers to proactively configure and schedule vehicle service intervals with due dates set by calendar day. This can help with performing time-based vehicle maintenance, which can result in fewer vehicle failures.
- Preventative maintenance by engine hours, which will allow managers to track engine hours and have the option to schedule maintenance by engine hours, which can help measure the wear and tear on vehicles.
FleetUp offers new cargo security solution
FleetUp has added a new capability to its platform to help fleets combat the continuing rise of theft.
The company has released a cargo security solution called FleetUp Shipment Security that’s offered as an add-on to a new or existing FleetUp subscription like the container security solution, which can be purchased in combination with the new feature.
“Until now, operations have had to settle for simple asset tracking solutions that focus on location without any additional data, automation, or alerts,” said FleetUp Founder and CEO Ezra Kwak. “These solutions simply don’t provide the kind of visibility that lets drivers and operators see the real-time vulnerabilities of their high-value assets. With FleetUp, all of that data is available on a single, comprehensive cloud platform.”
The new capability features break-in alerts via SMS and email alerts that notify users the moment thieves actually enter containers; shows the real-time GPS location of each shipment; eliminates manual process errors with automated shipment registering and tracking; and automatically categorizes shipments as “late” or “lost” for full shipment traceability.
Isaac earns cybersecurity certification
Fleet management solutions provider Isaac Instruments has achieved ISO 27001:2013 certification from the International Organization for Standardization.
It comes at a time of rising cybersecurity risks that threaten the financial well-being of fleet clients across North America.
ISO 27001 is recognized as the international standard for managing information security and is seen across the globe as an indication that an organization is following information security best practices. As part of the ISO certification, the Isaac team had to ensure each governance document and security policy and procedure met the international standards of compliance.
This certification enables organizations to manage the security of assets such as intellectual property, employee details and information entrusted by third parties.
Following an 18-month process, an accredited certification body granted Isaac the official ISO 27001 certification after performing an independent audit of the organization.
Isaac’s information security management system (ISMS) encompasses the whole organization, without exception. This includes core processes such as IT infrastructure management, end-user computing, vulnerability management, security event and incident management, software development lifecycle and project management.
