00:00 In this week’s CCJ Tech Shorts, we’ll take a look at a new feature designed to mitigate fraud, a new solution that uses telematics to inform commercial auto insurance pricing and more.
00:22 Automotive logistics platform Acertus rolled out a new authentication feature designed to verify driver identity during the pickup stage of vehicle transport, addressing the growing threat of fraud and misrepresentation within the vehicle logistics industry.
This new security safeguard called ACERTified allows customers to designate a pickup release agent responsible for confirming the identity of the assigned driver. At the time of pickup, the designated agent securely accesses a live verification portal, triggering a text-code system that allows instant, two-way confirmation between the driver and release agent. If the code matches, the system validates the assignment and greenlights vehicle release, providing both parties with a clear digital confirmation.
The feature can be enabled within the Acertus TMS.
01:09 Cambridge Mobile Telematics, or CMT, has introduced a new solution that aims to improve safety and provide savings to policyholders by enabling commercial auto insurers to strengthen pricing decisions using telematics data.
Called DriveWell Fleet, the solution delivers normalized telematics service provider (TSP) data from connected vehicles and offers proprietary hardware solutions for unconnected vehicles, enabling 100% telematics coverage for fleets.
The solution provides broad fleet coverage using CMT’s Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) platform for connected vehicles. The BYOD platform integrates directly with many telematics service providers, including Samsara, Verizon Connect, Lytx and Netradyne, among others.
For unconnected fleets, CMT offers its Tag Pro and Tag Max hardware solutions. Tag Pro, ideal for smaller fleets, uploads data through CMT’s proprietary mesh network. Tag Max is specialized for commercial heavy vehicles, including long-haul fleets, and delivers granular risk measurement with LTE connectivity. Both stick to the windshield, and no phone, cellular plan or external power source is required.
02:18 Automotive services and tech provider Cox Automotive has launched a new fleet brand.
Cox Fleet is the result of the combination of Cox Automotive’s Fleet Services and FleetNet America businesses, combining industry-recognized capabilities, national scale, and decades of operational expertise to deliver end-to-end fleet solutions under one brand.
Cox Fleet delivers support through scheduled maintenance, emergency roadside assistance, managed care, parts, trailer and truck body sales and more.
It offers a marketplace of more than 65,000 service providers, more than 1,500 technicians and a 24/7/365 nationwide support team to help fleets of all sizes improve uptime and better manage total cost of ownership.
03:01 Last-mile delivery TMS platform FarEye has partnered with Amazon Key to expand secure in-gate delivery access for carriers across the United States.
Gated communities, multi-family housing, and restricted entry points increasingly slow down drivers, trigger failed delivery attempts, resulting in greater costs, and create downstream inefficiencies across delivery networks.
The collaboration integrates Amazon Key’s secure access technology with FarEye’s Delivery Management System with the goal of helping carriers improve first-attempt delivery success, reduce operational costs, and deliver a more reliable experience for customers.
Carriers using FarEye can embed Amazon Key directly into delivery execution. Amazon Key provides verified, one-click access through enabled gates and entry points, allowing drivers to complete deliveries securely.
