It’s not just your fleet that’s having trouble hiring drivers, says a recent report from CareerBuilder, who ranked truck driver as the third “Hardest-to-Fill Position” in the country, based on a survey of hiring managers earlier this year.

Between 2010 and 2013, 113,517 jobs have been added, according to CareerBuilder, who interviewed more than 2,000 hiring managers to identify positions that stayed open 12 weeks or longer.

Sales representative topped the list, while machine operators and production workers ranked second.

“The skills gap that exists for high-growth, specialized occupations will become even more pronounced in the years to come, prompting the need to place a greater emphasis on reskilling workers through formal education and on-the-job training,” says Brent Rasmussen, president of CareerBuilder.

CareerBuilder combined its survey with data from Economic Modeling Specialist to produce the list.
