USPS contracted truck driver killed in train collision

The driver of a mail truck contracted with the U.S. Postal Service was killed after his vehicle was hit by a train this morning in Eau Claire, Wisc.

USPS reported in a statement that the truck was struck around 6:15 a.m. at a non-controlled railroad crossing at the intersection of Business 53 and Hogarth Street. The truck was operated by a highway contract route driver employed through Mack Priority Transport.

The truck contained mail and packages which serviced four routes and 200 PO Boxes in Osseo, Wisc.; two routes and 150 PO Boxes in Whitehall, Wisc.; two routes and 75 PO Boxes in Independence, Wisc.; and 100 PO Boxes in Pigeon Falls, Wisc..  Those deliveries will be delayed until the investigation is complete and mail is released to USPS.
