The staff at Fun Trucks Friday like to think we know a little about tailgating. With our global headquarters located here in Tuscaloosa, Ala., how could we not? And with the little ol’ football team down the street putting on the pads this week, it’s time for those of us who are serious fans to get our gear in order as well.
But the only thing you’ll need for this tailgate fantasy rig is your team’s logo – and $3.1 million.
The RV is the eleMMent Palazzo, U.S. version, by Marchi Mobile, an automotive brand which “represents exclusivity and extravagance that requires no explanation.”
There’s certainly no explaining this “masterpiece of German craftsmanship,” but we’ll try.
Broadly, the eleMMent Palazzo unites characteristics from motor, yachting and aviation sports such as a sports car rear diffuser, the business jet gangway or the motor yacht flybridge.
Okay, we took that word for word from the brochure. There really is no explaining this. Let’s stick to the specs: 45-ft. chassis, powered by a 510hp diesel; the motorsports XXL package comprises a dual sport exhaust system, carbon rear diffuser, eleMMent-design wheels and a single-arm windshield wiper with rotor drive.
Outdoor features include an 18-ft. wide integrated automatic awning, stainless steel gas grill with manual slide out, 80-liter stainless steel fridge, and a multimedia slide out including 40-in. all weather HD TV and speaker system.
The body pop-out expands interior space 80 percent, and the sky lounge can be set up with the push of a button (including furniture, sun roof, hand rail and stairs).
Reports are that a gold-plated Palazzo sold recently in Dubai, but Middle Eastern oil royalty are not the only potential buyers: Marchi Mobile recently opened a U.S. office in Aiken, S.C., which is right down the road from Augusta, Ga., where some wealthy Americans have been known to play a little golf.
That’s also SEC country, of course.
