VMAC now offers an under-hood air compressor system for Ford’s best-selling Transit vans.
The Underhood Lite air system features a two-speed, thermally protected compressor that is installed onto Ford’s 3.7-liter Ti-VCT engine as a belt-driven accessory and offers up to 30 CFM at 100 psi.
The air tank, which has a combined oil cooler and air/oil separator, measures 19 ¾ inches long, 8 inches wide and 17 ½ inches high.
A display module provides an hour meter, thermal protection warning light and high idle speed adjustment.
As with its other products, VMAC keeps safety in mind for the Underhood Lite sytem.
The tank has a rapid blow-down valve along with a 200 PSI overpressure safety valve. The parking brake must be engaged and the truck must be in park for the system to start.
VMAC is proud of the Underhood Lite’s 85-pound weight.
“This is a mere fraction of the weight of most air compressors,” a company spokesman said. “Its size, weight, and ease-of-use make it a perfect choice for construction, utilities, and public works fleets.”
VMAC, based in Canada, is one of only a few companies in North America that completely manufactures its own rotary screw compressors, and also designs custom solutions for multi-national OEM clients.
