Velociti on Sunday introduced a new program that allows fleets and owner-operators to use return on investment from the use of an existing Meritor Tire Inflation System (MTIS) by PSI system to pay for a turnkey tire inflation solution. The announcement was made at the Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) Annual Meeting in Nashville, Tenn.

Velociti President Deryk Powell says the solution works by deferring the billing of a MTIS by PSI system in combination with an extended payment plan that effectively utilizes the savings generated by the tire inflation system to pay for the solution. This turnkey solution offers ATIS hardware, retrofit installation and 24/7 remote monitoring/event reporting via telematics integration, the company says.

Fleets recognize that automatic tire inflation systems provide proven, significant savings,” says Powell. “In spite of this, most fleets only adopt ATIS on new trailers at the time of purchase.  This approach results in fleets missing out on the benefits of ATIS for large portions of their fleet.”

Before developing this partnership, Powell says Velociti research uncovered most fleets choose not to invest in retrofitting tire inflation technology for a variety of reasons: they didn’t know the technology was retrofittable; they didn’t know companies (such as Velociti) specialized in completing a fleet retrofit; they didn’t plan to own a trailer long enough to justify the cost; or they lacked the upfront capital to commit to such a tool.

He says Velociti’s new “instant ROI” partnership eliminates or neutralizes each concern. The approach Velociti takes by deferring billing during the installation portion of the project, plus extending payment terms on the entire package, allows for a fleet-wide ATIS program that provides immediate and sustained savings on fuel, tread wear, maintenance and downtime. Powell says those proceeds pay for the program while continuing to provide ongoing savings across the fleet. Another added value Velociti offers is system health monitoring of the ATIS technology as part of its industry leading VelociCare program, which provides comprehensive support of fleet technology solutions.

Powell says fleets interested in the program are required to make no up front investment, and just $100 per trailer per month for 12 months for hardware and installation, as well as $12 per trailer per month for 33 months for Velociti’s VelociCare Support.

Using a 1,000 truck fleet as an example, Powell says a customer committing to the new “Instant ROI” program can net savings of more than $3,050 per trailer for 36 months.

“We know MTIS will save fleets money and we’re extremely proud of the fact that we can provide an easy, affordable solution for fleets to retrofit existing trailers,” says Powell.
