Volvo Trucks North America and Mack Trucks Monday at the American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) 2026 Management Conference & Exhibition rolled out comprehensive new service contracts designed to combine preventive maintenance and powertrain protection into predictable monthly payments.
Volvo Trucks's Silver Service Contract, available across the U.S. and Canada through nearly 400 authorized dealers, the builds upon the connected Blue Service Contract introduced in 2024.
Mack Trucks' debuted its Mack Premium Plus Service Contract. Emerging from a pilot program launched in January with dealers like Tri-State Truck Center in Memphis, Tennessee, Mack has already quoted the new contract for more than 1,000 trucks.
Both programs are structured to tackle two of a fleet's largest and least predictable operating expenses:
Predictable financing: The service contract can be bundled directly into the truck payment to spread costs interest-free over the financing period.
Comprehensive coverage: Both plans cover routine services—such as oil changes, filter replacements, and chassis lubrication—alongside major powertrain components including the engine, exhaust aftertreatment system, transmission, and clutch.
Connected fleet management: Leveraging connected vehicle data, dedicated fleet managers and dealer networks coordinate proactive maintenance, handle over-the-air updates, manage recalls, and streamline service intervals to reduce planned downtime.
Unlike fixed-interval maintenance schedules, Premium Plus and Silver Service utilize real-time vehicle operational intelligence to dictate service needs.
“What the Premium Plus now is the adaptive portion of the vehicle operation,” explained Ashish Sadhu, Director of Mack Trucks Services. “If I am going through a hilly terrain, and I am driving in top gear, and my usage is more on the brakes and everything, so I now can proactively tell the customer that 'Hey, this is what you need for your maintenance because this is how you have been driving.'"
A core differentiator of both programs is its high-touch support, which Sadhu described as an overarching "concierge service." Every enrolled fleet receives a designated manager from the company who evaluates component performance and provides "coaching, hand-holding, and again the fleet running the truck on the road," he said.
Volvo Trucks President Peter Voorhoeve noted that the Silver Service Contract helps customers "maximize uptime, reduce unexpected disruptions and stay focused on running their business."
Mack Trucks President Jonathan Randall emphasized that moving forward, vehicle TCO is "really going to be driven by the technology that you can provide with that truck to drive the uptime."
In addition to its product rollout, Volvo Trucks announced it will extend its role as the exclusive sponsor of the ATA's America's Road Team through 2027, marking its 25th consecutive year supporting the program. The corps of 92 professional driver Captains will travel the nation in an all-new Volvo VNL 860 transporting the ATA Interstate One mobile classroom.
