Employment services firm Monster, which angered industry groups in January with its Super Bowl commercial featuring a driverless truck run amok, has produced a pro-trucking commercial that aired last month. The commercial is one of the results of discussions between Monster and the American Trucking Associations following the airing of the Super Bowl ad. Another result was that Monster modified its original commercial slightly to remove some of the images most objectionable to the industry.
The Monster-produced pro-industry commercial features professional truck drivers talking about their work, declaring, for example, “I’m proud to be America’s truck driver” and “I keep America moving.” The commercial has aired on various cable channels, including BET, the Comedy Channel, CMT, TLC, USA, VH1 and ESPN, ATA said. After the ad runs on cable, ATA plans to use the commercial as a part of a pro-trucking media campaign.
