James Hardman, special counsel to Dart Transit Company, received the Past Chairmen’s Award at the Truckload Carriers Associations annual meeting last month. The award, considered TCA’s highest honor, is presented to industry leaders who make a significant contribution to the business community, the industry and TCA. An attorney specializing in transportation law, Hardman is an expert in the use of independent contractors within the transportation industry and protecting their special status.
From 1984 to 1994, Hardman served as Dart’s vice president of administration and general counsel, responsible for providing legal counsel, long-range planning and public and legislative relations. He has been active in numerous trucking organizations and has served as president of the Transportation Lawyers Association and chairman of the Minnesota Trucking Association. Hardman now has his own law practice where he works on corporate, insurance, freight collection, damage and employment issues.
