Mack Trucks Inc. is hosting a community open house Sunday, June 19 to celebrate its 100th anniversary in the Lehigh Valley region of eastern Pennsylvania, where all of the company’s construction and refuse vehicles, including the Granite Axle Back model, are produced.
The celebration will be from noon to 4 p.m. at Mack’s Assembly Operations in Macungie, Pa., at the corner of Route 100 and Gehman Road.
Paul Vikner, president and CEO of Mack, said that the celebration is the company’s way of thanking the local community for giving Mack a home for the past 100 years.
The event is free and open to the public. Complementary hot dogs and soft drinks will be provided, and CAT Country 96 FM will broadcast live from the event.
Attendees will be able to walk a one-mile tour route through the plant, where the construction and refuse trucks are produced. Antique and current Mack vehicles will be on display. The Mack Shop — offering apparel, gifts and souvenirs — will be open.
The celebration also will include the first “Most Outrageous Bulldog Idol Contest.” Anyone who brings a “wackily-attired” bulldog can compete for prizes. The contest will begin at 2:30 p.m.
