Remote Dynamics, a provider of mobile resource management solutions for commercial fleets, has announced the release of REDIview Version 1.5. According to the company, the unit’s additional functionality enables faster access to critical fleet information, and the ability to integrate a company’s remote work force to its corporate network.

REDIview is a suite of mobile resource management solutions created for managing and maintaining metro short-haul commercial fleets and providing businesses with affordable access to enterprise-level telematics designed to cut costs and improve operations, regardless of fleet or mobile work force size. Remote Dynamics says that since the initial product launch in January 2005, it has sold more than 4,000 REDIview units within markets such as construction, communications, energy and HVAC.

New features in REDIview 1.5, according to Remote Dynamics, include:

Fleet Status: Fleet Status provides a textual, at-a-glance view of company fleets. Vehicles are in list form and color-coded to indicate which vehicles are moving, idle or stopped. Application windows can be cascaded to show multiple views of different fleets in various locations, updating automatically to provide access to current data.

REDIsense: Sensor Management provides the ability to monitor critical activities of the mobile work force through use of standard vehicle sensors such as seatbelt engaged, cab door ajar and battery voltage, along with custom-installed sensors such as cargo door and service equipment usage. Visibility into employee and equipment behavior enables a company to better adhere to various OSHA regulations, enhance driver security, reduce cargo theft and breakage, and raise customer satisfaction.

REDIconnect: Internet access through the REDIview mobile unit enables field service personnel to retrieve information from the corporate office over a secure, wireless channel at a reduced cost. REDIconnect enables a company to put critical real-time business information in the hands of field personnel.

REDIhotspot: Combined with REDIconnect, WiFi support further enhances a remote work force’s ability to deliver high-quality services. REDIhotspot provides wireless access for laptops, PDAs and other wireless devices, giving the remote work force freedom to communicate with the corporate office directly from the customer premise. Additionally, REDIhotspot provides wireless access to critical back-office systems such as scheduling, billing, inventory, customer resource management and enterprise resource management applications.
