Nissan Diesel America has introduced a new synthetic engine oil product for use in its 2006 UD Trucks product line.

“The new UDXtra Genuine Engine Oil will allow UD Truck owners to double the recommended oil and filter change intervals on every vehicle in the 2006 model year product lineup,” says Dayle Wetherell, the company’s senior vice president and general manager. “The new engine lubricant will keep the MD175 and MD230 engines running efficiently for years, with service intervals that are twice as long as with conventional CI-4 engine oil.”

In its announcement to its dealer group at its headquarters in Irving, Texas, NDA stated that in on-highway applications for 2006 UD1300, UD1400 and UD1800CS models, the oil change interval jumps from every two months or 6,000 miles to six months or 12,000 miles. The UD1800HD, UD2000, UD2300LP/DH, UD2600 and UD3300 move from every two months or 10,000 miles to six months or 20,000 miles.

NDA said the benefit in terms of dollars saved over the vehicle’s life would be significant: For example, a 2006 medium-duty UD Truck with the MD230 engine running 60,000 miles per year will save the customer almost $400 per year in oil and filter service expenses.

UDXtra Genuine Engine Oil will be available at UD Trucks dealers nationwide, packaged in one-gallon recyclable plastic containers. For more information, go to www.udtrucks.com.
