Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell has ordered the installation of new signs on Avon Mountain to warn truckers of the steep grade on westbound Route 44.

The governor’s Aug. 17 directive to state Transportation Commissioner Stephen Korta came in the wake of a fiery July 29 dump truck crash at the base of the mountain that involved 20 vehicles and claimed four lives.
