Federal Emergency Management Agency contractors need more truckers to haul disaster supplies to areas affected by Hurricane Katrina, including Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.

Truckers who can offer assistance should contact one of two FEMA contract trucking firms, either Lipsey Mountain Spring Water at 770-449-1359 or IAP Worldwide Services at 803-798-1611.

IAP is especially seeking refrigerated trucks to transport ice.

The president of the American Red Cross calls Katrina’s aftermath “the largest single natural disaster response in our history,” and corporations are beginning to open their wallets to help.

Exxon Mobil gave $2 million to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those impacted by this and with the survivors as they begin putting their lives back in order,” said Lee Raymond, Exxon Mobil chairman and CEO.

“Their gift will touch the lives of thousands in the coming weeks and months,” said Marsha Evans, president and CEO of the American Red Cross.
