The UPS Foundation is donating up to $1.25 million toward Hurricane Katrina relief efforts and is organizing an effort to aid UPS employees and their families.

The donation includes $500,000 in cash and up to $750,000 of in-kind services, including medical and health items. The funds will be donated to the American Red Cross, America’s Second Harvest and other relief organizations.

UPS also has established a second relief fund where employees can donate to help fellow employees affected by the hurricane. The UPS Employee Hurricane Relief Fund contributed $250,000 and will match all other contributions. More than 2,200 UPS employees live in the disaster area.

UPS also encourages donations to Gifts In Kind International, www.giftsinkind.org.

UPS also is sending several tractor-trailers from the Chicago area to Mississippi with loads of much-needed bottled water.
