Fikes Truck Line has lent some of its equipment and drivers — and covered the cost of sending food, water, personal care items, blankets and medicine kits — to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.

Since the first weekend in September, the company has driven three truckloads of donations to victims.

Kelly Andrews, director of safety for Fikes, made all three deliveries. The first two shipments went to the Louisiana communities of Baldwin and Lafayette. The third shipment went to Jackson, Miss.
