Officials of Hendrickson Truck Suspension Systems announced the availability of the Firemaax heavy-duty, air-ride suspension from Pierce Manufacturing, a manufacturer of custom fire apparatus.
Pierce, an Oshkosh Truck subsidiary, offers Firemaax, which tackles the severe-service requirements of the fire and rescue industry, on all its chassis offerings, Hendrickson said.
Firemaax – designed for superior driver and passenger comfort while helping protect critical equipment and electronics from excessive vibration – provides weight savings of up to 200 pounds compared to traditional air-ride suspensions, Hendrickson says. Firemaax features parallelogram suspension geometry designed to reduce roll-steer, offering the driver greater control during lane changes, highway ramp operation and tight road maneuvers, according to the company.
Hendrickson recently expanded its Firemaax rear-air suspension family, adding 27,000-pound single-axle and 54,000-pound tandem-axle ratings. The system also is available in 24,000-pound single-axle and 48,000-pound tandem-axle ratings.
