Canada’s Contrans Income Fund has completed the acquisition of L.A. Dalton Systems Inc., a flatbed trucking operation based in Binbrook, Ontario that transports steel products, mainly in the Ontario, Michigan and Ohio corridor. Financial terms were not disclosed.

L.A. Dalton, utilizing a combination of company trucks and owner-operators, operates 50 highway tractors. The company recorded revenue of about $14.5 million in its most recent fiscal year ended June 30. Contrans says it intends to continue to operate L.A. Dalton as an independent operating unit with existing management and staff.

“L.A. Dalton is a business that is very highly regarded in the industry for providing premium service, hiring the best drivers, and operating some of the best equipment in the industry,” says Stan Dunford, chief executive officer of Contrans. “The operating philosophies of L.A. Dalton and Contrans are very closely aligned, making this such a natural fit within our group.”
