GeoLogic Solutions, a provider of multi-mode communications and tracking systems, announced that its customers now have Cingular Wireless’ nationwide digital wireless data network as an additional communications option for users of its MobileMax mobile communications and fleet management system.

This new choice for GeoLogic customers will provide MobileMax users with expanded terrestrial wireless coverage and increased data capabilities such as wireless downloads of mobile software., according to Herndon, Va.-based GeoLogic.

Southeastern Freight Lines is the first joint GeoLogic and Cingular Wireless customer. “In the few weeks we’ve been using the Cingular network, we have been pleased with the speed in which messages are transmitted to and from the truck,” said Braxton Vick, senior vice president of corporate planning at SEFL, an LTL carrier. “The Cingular system is living up to our expectations, and we look forward to switching the rest of our fleet over to the Cingular network.”

The Southeastern Freight Lines solution is utilizing Cingular’s GPRS network, which is based on GSM technology, a worldwide standard for wireless communications.

“Cingular has a long history of working with some of the largest for-hire and private fleets in North America, and we look forward to joining our expertise with that of GeoLogic to provide major customers like Southeastern Freight Lines with compelling solutions that deliver substantial benefits through improved fleet and asset management,” said Laura Johnson, Cingular Wireless’ director of enterprise solutions.

“We chose the Cingular network because it has the best nationwide coverage,” stated John Lewis, CEO for GeoLogic. “We designed this new GPRS option to work with all MobileMax units, including those already on the road, as well as with all current dispatch systems.”

MobileMax users now now have multiple communications options: satellite with the current land-based network, satellite with the Cingular network or a combination of both throughout their fleet. The Cingular GPRS network will be available to new customers and as an upgrade option for existing customers.
