E.J. Brooks says it has been named as the exclusive sole-source provider of a high-security mechanical bolt seal for U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s worldwide Container Security Initiative (CSI).

These bolts will be used in resealing U.S.-bound containers that have been inspected by U.S. Customs agents stationed at 40 foreign ports, according to Brooks. The Brooks/CSI high-security bolt seal conforms to ISO/PAS-17712, as well as to specifications established by CSI, the manufacturer says.

CSI is an initiative that was developed by CBP in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks: Its primary purpose is to protect the global trading system and trade lanes between the 40 foreign ports and the United States, which account for more than 75 percent of U.S.-bound container volume, according to Brooks.

Brooks says the product is the result of a two-year collaboration with CBP.
